High purity algae extract from microalgae (Nannochloropsisoculata) combined with pullulan, a film-forming natural polysaccharide (sugar) derived from the fungus A. Pullulans.
The extract is rich in vitamin C, vitamin B12 as antioxidants.
Properties: The combination of pullulan and algae extract has an immediate skin tightening effect and improves visibly the appearance of fine lines. However, the extract has also a long-term anti-wrinkle effect. It protects the skin cells from oxidative stress and strengthens the connective tissue by stimulating collagen synthesis. Pullulan has also a good moisturizing effect as it attracts water similar to other polysaccharides.
Extract from the leaves of the blackberry plant (rubus villosus). The extract is made up of many functional ingredients, such as polyphenolic compounds and flavanoids, which mean that the efficacy of the extract cannot be attributed to one specific ingredient.
Properties: In recent studies it has been shown that blackberry leaf extract can fight skin aging by inhibiting specific enzymes in the skin (matrix metalloproteinases, MMP) which degrade collagen and elastin which can lead to a loss of elasticity and firmness of the skin. Degradation of collagen and elastin occurs primarily when skin is exposed to UVA rays of the sun. The studies found that blackberry leaf extract works as an MMP inhibitor, particularly MMP-1, thereby preventing degradation of collagen and elastin. In addition, blackberry leaves contain tannins which provide good astringent and tonic properties which are useful to treat dark circles under the eye, irritated skin or burns.
